Flinders's Providence Logbook Mar 24, 1792

Remarks Saturday March 24th Providence

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and fair Weather

 3 pm: People washing and mending their Clothes

 4 pm: Fine pleasant Weather

 5 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual

 6 pm: In Lower and Top Gallant Steering sails

 7 pm: Before Dark – In first Reefs

 8 pm: Moderate Breezes and a fine Cloudy Night

10 pm: A Fire kept all Night in the Galley as usual

12 mid: Fresh Breezes and fine Weather

 2 am: Squally with drizling Rain

 4 am: Moderate Breezes and fair Weather

 5 am: At Day break, Out all Reefs, Set Steering sails &c

 6 am: The Upper Decks washed according to Custom every Morning

 8 am: Saw a Flock of Sheerwaters and some Skip jacks – Cleaned below and aired with Fires

 9 am: People employed under the Boatswain making Points &c Wort at the Usual Time Exercised the Pinnaces Crew at Small Arms and the Marines at Platoon Firing

11 am: A Cask of Spruce Beer broached and given instead of Wine

12 noon: Fresh Breezes and fair Weather
