Bond's Providence Logbook Jun 20, 1793

Remarks &c 20th June 1793

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and cloudy with rain

 2 pm: Hard squalls – in steering sails and 2nd reefs

 4 pm: Moderate breezes and cloudy out 2nd reefs. Extremes of Cuba from NWbW½W to NNE½E off shore 7 or 8 miles – A strange sail from the mast head on the larboard bow – At ½ past 6 hove to Cape Antonio NW False Cape ENE½N, off shore 2 or 3 miles – In 2nd. reefs. At 6.45 wore ship.

 7 pm: At 7 False Cape EbN, Cape Antonio NWbW, Fisherman's Light N½W.

12 mid: Tacked ship

 3 am: Tacked ship

 4 am: Tacked ship

 5 am: At daylight Cape Antonio NWbN. Ast, Antelope & Prize in company – the 4 other vessels in sight. At ½ past 6 bore away, Cape Antonio NWbW½W, False Cape NE½E off shore 2 miles.

 7 am: At 7.45 hove to – At 8.30 wore ship – At 9.30 wore ship, a sail to windward bearing down. A Canoe came alongside with Turtle

10 am: At 10.25 bore up. Spoke an English ship from Kingston bound to Philadelphia – Exercised great Guns and small Arms. Sailmakers and Carpenters employed as yesterday. Same vessels in sight as before.
   Latitude Observed 21°·54′ North
At Noon the Extremes of the Land from ENE to SE½E, off shore 3 miles
