Bond's Providence Logbook Jun 16, 1793

Remarks &c. 16th June 1793

 1 pm: Light airs and squally with rain.

 2 pm: In 1st. reef Topsails

 4 pm: Moderate breezes with heavy rain – set steering sails, Negril by North bearing North. Extremes of the West End of Jamaica from EbN½N to EbS½S distance 10 or 11 leagues.

 6 pm: At 6 moderate breezes and cloudy, a strange sail seen from the Mast head in the NNE

 8 pm: Ditto Weather in steering sails.

10 pm: Fresh gales and cloudy with lightning in the SW Quarter

 5 am: At day light stood for the land seen from the mast head, bearing WNW – Out 2nd. reefs

 6 am: At ¼ past 6 Cayman brack from the Deck NW¼N to NWbW¼W distant 5 or 6 leagues.

 7 am: At 7 Hour.53 Minutes East point (a perpendicular head) NbW, 5 or 6 miles

 8 am: At 8 extremes of Cayman brack N80°W to N5°E distance off the Eastermost Extremes 3 or 4 miles – Saw many Flying-fish and Boobies.

 9 am: At 9 Hour.25 Mintues saw little Caymana, N64°W, 5 miles to N89°W 9 miles. Out reefs and set Steering sails
Muster the ships company in Divisions & exercised Great Guns

10 am: At 10.50 Eastermost part of Little Caymana NbE, 10 miles; Westermost part of Ditto N50°W, 8 miles

12 noon: At Noon fresh breezes and cloudy weather Westermost part of Little Caymana, North 5 leagues. Eastermost land in sight NbE½E, distant 6 leagues
