Bond's Providence Logbook Jun 7-9, 1793

Remarks &c. moored in Bluefield's Bay.

June 1793

Friday 7th. First and latter parts strong breezes with haze, middle part light airs, calms and variable. PM received a turn of water per Launch. Anchored here to wait Convoy. The Jamaica of London, from Savanna la Mar. AM sent the Launch to Black River, and the cutter to hale the Seine – Jolly boat to gather water cresses At 6 loosed sails – at 8 fishers returned with about 30 pounds of fish. Furled sails. Sailmakers employed fixing Screens & repairing small Sails. Exercised Great Guns &c. People employed fixing new Slings for the Fore Yard. Served Water Cresses. Anchored the ship William & Charlotte of London to wait convoy and for Savanna la Mar. Confined George Thompson for Contempt

Saturday 8th. First part moderate breezes and fair weather middle part light airs calms and variable – latter part fresh breezes and hazy horizon. AM. received 285 pounds of fresh Beef and served it to the ships company. Washed below. The Launch returned from Black River. People employed mending their Clothes

Sunday 9th. First and latter parts fresh gales and fair with haze, middle part light airs, calms, & variable. Employed mending Clothes &c. AM cleaned below; served fresh Beef and water cresses. received a turn of water per Launch. At 10 mustered in Divisions. Anchored here to wait convoy the John of Scarborough from Savanna la Mar
