Bond's Providence Logbook Feb 15, 1793

Remarks &c Friday 15th February 1793

 1 pm: Light breezes and fair weather Tacked ship

 2 pm: Leewardmost white Horses NEbE.

 3 pm: Tacked ship. Fresh breezes and cloudy weather. Western White Horses N26W 3 miles. Cow Bay point S80E [?] miles, off shore 1½ miles

 4 pm: At 4 Hour:15 Minutes Tacked. Cow Bay point S65°E off shore 1 mile. Eastern White Horses NbW.

 5 pm: At sunset in 2nd reef Top Sails, Yelhas point N85°E 4 or 5 miles. Cow Bay point N45°E.

 6 pm: At 6 Tacked Ship ship. At 6.30 the wind came from the land, Tacked ship. – Worked the Pumps as usual.

12 mid: Fresh breezes

 1 am: At 1 Hour:45 Minutes Tacked ship; Yelhas Hill bearing North.

 4 am: Fresh breezes and squally Tacked ship

 6 am: Tacked ship, Yelhas point NWbW, and the eastern White Horses N10W, 4 or 5 miles.

 8 am: The western White Horses N28°W, 4 or 5 leagues Extremes of the land from NNE to NWbW.

10 am: Tacked ship unbent the Spanker and bent the Mizen Sailmakers on the After Awning. Served fresh Beef.

12 noon: Fresh breezes and fair weather with haze. western White Horses NWbW. Extemes of the land from WbN to NE½E, off shore 5 or 6 miles
