Bond's Providence Logbook Jan 9, 1793

Remarks &c Wednesday 9th January 1793

 1 pm: Moderate breezes and cloudy with light squalls and rain.

 4 pm: Cloudy. Saw Bonnettas & Albacore. Sea birds at a distance

 6 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual

 8 pm: Cloudy

 1 am: At ½ past 1 dark squalls and heavy rain – in steering sails &c. In Top Gallant Sails & up Fore Sail to wait for the Assistant. Shewed a light which she answered.

 3 am: At 3 light breezes & settled rain.

 4 am: Heavy showers

 6 am: Moderate breezes with rain. set Fore Sail, Top Gallant Sails & Fore and Fore Top Mast Studding sails.

 7 am: Served the usual breakfast

 8 am: Moderate breezes & rain. Dry-cleaned below and aired ship with Brodies stoves, & hanging ones.

10 am: At 10 heavy squall and rain – in Top Gallant sails & steering sails. At 11 Moderate set them again. Served Krout & Portable Soup in the Pease for Dinner.

12 noon: Moderate breezes & rainy weather – Broached a puncheomn of Spruce beer.
   No Observation
