Thursday 20th. Fresh breezes and squally, received water per Launch. Employed in the holds and about the rigging –
AM. strong breezes and squally. Sailed the British Tar of London, on the whale Fishing. Sent [blank] Plants on shore Viz [blank] of Bread fruit [blank] of Ratta

At 9 Governor Brooke and Lieutenant Governor Robson came on board – saluted with 13 Guns. Sent to gather water cresses, which was served with fresh beef to the people – Broached a puncheon of Spruce beer.

Friday 21st. Strong breezes and squally; received 15 puncheons of water by a launch from the shore. AM received 23 casks from shore, with water, and sent on shore several empty ones. received also Fresh beef and water Cresses, which were served to the people. Confined John Currey seaman for neglect of duty.

Saturday 22nd. Fresh breezes and squally employed watering and stowing the holds. Arrived here a Dutch Brig called the Comet belonging to the States[*]. On her arrival she saluted us with 11 guns which was immdediately answered by the Fort. Sent an officer on board who was informed of the intention of the salute; and of her being sent here by the commanding officer at the Cape of Good Hope, to learn news. AM returned the salute with an equal number of guns.
Anchored on the bay a Genoese ship from Bengal. Also the Ganges Indiaman, and H.M. Sloop Atalanta, from India, but last from the Cape. received fresh beef and water cresses as usual, and broached a puncheon of Spruce beer. Employed watering and stowing the holds. Washed below and aired with fires
