Bond's Providence Logbook Oct 12, 1792

Remarks &c Friday 12th October 1792

 1 pm: Light breezes and fair weather

 4 pm: Extremes of Savu from S25°E 6 or 7 leagues to S40°E 4 or 5 leagues – Island to the westward of Savu S29°E 3 or 4 leagues to S6°E off shore 3 leagues. At 5 a light breeze sprung up with a swell from the SW – At sunset the Island of Savu EbS½E 8 or 9 leagues. Extremes of the Island to the westward from S50°E to S62°E distant 6 leagues. In steering sails and 1st reef Top Sails – Worked the Pumps as usual

11 pm: Heavy Dew – Gunners employed in the Magazine – Moderate breezes and fair weather

 4 am: Light airs and fair weather

 5 am: Out all reefs and made sail – swell from the SW.

 8 am: At 8 light airs and fair weather Cleaned below and aired with fires. Saw a branch of a tree, Seaweed, a Boobie, & Fish. Employed bending the Spritsail Top Sail and Spanker – Read the Articles of War and punished George Thompson Seaman with 12 lashes for Insolence & Neglect of Duty – Served fresh Beef and supplyed the Assistant with 30 pounds

12 noon: Light breezes and fair – Assistant in company
   Latitude Observed 11°·12′·25″ South
