December Tuesday 6th 1791 – Fresh gales and clear weather – received 572 Gallons of Wine – At 8 strong wind with heavy squalls – At 4 AM. more Moderate and clear – 8 Calm and fair; received fresh Mutton, Greens, Bread &c. Sailmakers & Coopers employed at the Tent, people on board occasionally – At 9 fresh gales and fair weather sailed two French ships – Squally
Wednesday 7th 1791 –
Fresh gales and clear weather. – At 6 strong gales and squally the Pitt Indiaman parted her
Eastern Cable – At 12 very strong squalls – 6 Ditto Weather so that no boat could pass
to and from the shore Cleaned ship – Employed at the Tent as yesterday. Strong gales and
squally weather
Thursday 8th – Strong gales with heavy squalls – At 4 more Moderate received Mutton &c. – 8 fresh gales and clear – 12 strong gales & squally 5 AM Moderate with small rain – Moderate with thick fog – received Mutton, Bread, Greens &c. Sailmakers & Cooper employed at the Tent – received on board 1297 gallons of Wine – Moderate and Hazy weather
Friday 9th Moderate breezes and fair weather – Struck the Tent and
employed getting on board the materials – Hazy weather at 12 fair. AM received the
daily proportion of fresh Mutton, Bread, Greens and Wine from the shore. Washed & cleaned
above and below – Moderate breezes & fair weather
