Bond's Providence Logbook Jul 14, 1791

Thursday 14 July 1791 – From Sheerness to Spithead

 1 pm: Light breezes and fair weather at 2 PM Pilot left the ship – Assistant in Company

 4 pm: At 4 out all reefs & sat Top Gallant Sails and fore and main Top Mast studding sail

 5 pm: At 5 South Foreland bore West 1½ miles

 6 pm: At 6 South Foreland NE 4 miles

 8 pm: In 1st reef Top Sails – Mustered and stationed the ship's company

12 mid: Cloudy – South Foreland Light NNE 3 Leagues – Sounded 20 fathoms.

 4 am: At ½ Tacked ship. South Foreland NEbN 2 miles – Fresh breezes and cloudy weather.

 8 am: At 8 Dungeness Lighthouse E½S 5 miles

12 noon: At Noon Beachy head WbN¼N distant 4 Leagues. Hastings NEbN 3 Leagues – Sounded 10 fathoms
