Remarks at Bluefields

1793 June

Wednesday 5th Fair Weather and Hazy with much Lightning
PM At One O'Clock fired 21 Guns in Honor of His Majesty's Birth Day.
Warped nearer to the Shore and came to with the Small Bower in 5 fathoms. Moored SE and NW half Cable each way. The Tavern EbN about 2 Miles. Savannah la Mar WNW outer part of the land W¾N. The East point of the Bay and outermost land SEbS. Dolphin Head N33½W
 Am Sent the Launch with Hands to Water the Ship. Hauled the Seine and caught a few Fish. Washed Ship Fore & Aft and dried with Fires.

Thursday 6 Ditto Weather. Sent Hands on shore to gather Water Cresses got abundance for the Ships Company
Employed Watering and other necessary duties of the Ship.

Friday 7 Ditto Weather with Calms.
  Employed Watering, gathering Water Cresses, Hauling the Seine, Airing Sails, Mending some small Sails, Exercising Great Guns and Small Arms
  Anchored two Ships from Savannah la Mar to Join Convoy. Sent the Cutter to Black River

Saturday 8 Fair Weather and Hazy. Received 285 pounds Fresh Beef. Employed Watering Washing and Cleaning Ship, Exercising Great Guns. Hands gathering Water Cresses, others gathering Limes. Employed mending Cloaths.

Sunday 9 Fresh Gales in the day Calms and Land Winds at Night.
Employed Watering. AM Mustered the Ships Company and saw them all Clean
Anchored a Ship from Savannah la Mar to join Convoy

Monday 10 Fair Weather with Land and Sea Breezes
PM arrived H Majesty's Ship Proserpine and by her I received orders from Commodore Ford to Sail for Cape Antonio with the Assistant, there to take such Ships of the Honduras Fleet as might be assembled and proceed with them home. The Assistant not being arrived from the North side I conceived it proper to wait a day or two for Her.
  Received 234 pounds Fresh Beef. Aired Sails. Received Water and gathered Water Cresses for the Ships Company. Gunners Employed making Wads
