Providence Logbook Oct 22, 1792

Remarks Monday 22nd October 1792

 1 pm: Very fresh Gale and thick Cloudy Weather threatning Wind & Rain
Employed the Sailmakers about the best Main Top Sail.

 3 pm: Saw Men of War Birds

 5 pm: Let fresh Water into the Ship and worked the Pumps as usual.

 6 pm: In Steering Sails and 2 Reefs in the Top Sails.

 8 pm: Spiting Rain. In 3rd Reefs. Much Sea from the SE.

 5 am: Ditto Weather. Out 3rd & 2nd Reefs and Set Fore Top Mast Studding Sail.

 6 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast. Bore Cole thickned with Oatmeal for Dinner.

 8 am: Passed a Spar covered with Barnacles. Brown and Gannet Boobies seen, Man of War Birds, a small kind of White Gull, Flying Fish and Sheerwaters.

10 am: Unbent the Cables. Served Vinegar as usual on this Day

11 am: Carpenters Caulking the Quarter Deck

12 noon: Dark Gloomy Weather. No Observations.
