Providence Logbook Jul 31, 1792

Remarks Tuesday 31st July 1792 Towards [Savage Island]

 1 pm: Light Airs & very Cloudy Weather. Employed repairing the Old Fore Top Sail & fitting the New Fore Sail. Exercised Small Arms

 4 pm: Unbent the Main Top Gallant Sail to repair & bent the best.

 6 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual.

10 pm: Showers of Rain and Calms

12 mid: Very Cloudy with thick Rainy Weather and light Airs the remainder of this day.

 6 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast Krout with their Beef & Pudding for Dinner.

 8 am: Cleaned below. Carpenters making Glass Scuttles for the Cabin Ports. Sailmakers repairing the Main Top Gallant Sail.

12 noon: Light Airs and thick Rain. Swell from the SE.
   Assistant in Company.
 I expected to have seen Savage Island but it is such dirty weather we cannot discover land above 3 or 4 Leagues at most
