Providence Logbook Apr 7, 1792

Remarks Saturday 7th April 1792 Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Fresh Trade and Hazy Weather. Saw flying fish and Mother Careys Chicken.—

 3 pm: Exercised the Marines at firing at a Target-they put in ⅓ of the number of Shot fired.—

 4 pm: People Employed mending Cloaths —

 6 pm: Let fresh Water into the Ship and Worked the Pumps as usual – In Steering Sails & 1st. Reefs.

 8 pm: Fine bright Moon light Night but the Clouds passing to thick cannot get Observations.—

 4 am: Out Reefs and Set Steering Sails.

 7 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast Sweet Wort at 11 OClock. Krout.—

 8 am: Exercised Marines and Boats Crews at small Arms and fired. Armourer at the Forge.—

10 am: Saw a forked Tail Gull like what are called Ganneps [Gannets?] in the North Sea. They are never far from Land.—

12 noon: Fair Wind and Hazey. Saw Two Tropic Birds – Mother Careys Chicken and a Sheerwater. —
   Assistant in Company.—
