Providence Logbook Apr 6, 1792

Remarks Friday 6th April 1792 Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Fresh Trade and Squally Weather with a great deal of Hazy. Bore away. At 1 the Island was last seen, bearing SE½E distant about 9 Miles

 6 pm: Let fresh Water into the Ship and Ventilated with the pumps —

 7 pm: In 1st. Reefs and furled the Main Sail –

11 pm: Squally in 2nd Reefs

12 mid: Fair Weather and Haze

 4 am: Out Reefs and Set Steering Sails. —

 7 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast – Krout – Sweet Wort at 10 OClock – Portable Soup and Bore Cole in the Pease for Dinner.—

 9 am: Exercised Boats Crews and fired. Armourer at the Forge. Carpenters finished the Boats. People Washing—

12 noon: Fair Weather, but exceedingly Hazy — Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer for the People —
 Saw a peice of Wood like a rough Stave.
   Assistant in Company
