Providence Logbook Apr 4, 1792

Remarks Wednesday 4th April 1792 Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Fresh Trade, fair Weather and haze—

 2 pm: Flying Showers — Got the Forge up.

 5 pm: A Hammock fell over board–Tacked Ship and sent a Boat after it—made Sail — Let fresh Water into the Ship and Worked the Pumps – In 1st. Reefs.—

 8 pm: Lightning in the North.—

 2 am: Lightning in the NE.

 6 am: Scrubbed Hammocks. Saw flying Fish and two Tropic Birds. Out Reefs & Set all Steering Sails.—

 8 am: Served Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast. Sweet Wort at 10 OClock. Krout, and Bore Cole and Portable Soup in the Pease for Dinner.—

10 am: Cleaned Ship – Painted Boats – Exercised Marines at Small Arms and Fired—

11 am: Armourer at the Forge —

12 noon: Squally with Smart Showers – Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer for the people —
   Assistant in Company –
