Providence Logbook Mar 8, 1792

Remarks Thursday 8th March 1792 Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Moderate Gale & Fair Weather. Employed mending Sails, Spinning Spunyarn & making Points

 4 pm: Squally with Showers and Wind varying three points, Ship much motion

 6 pm: Worked the pumps to Ventilate and keep the Ship Sweet. In 1st. Reefs & Lower Steering Sails.

10 pm: Fine Night. Set Main Top Mast Steering Sail.

 4 am: Squally with Rain – In Main Top Mast Studding Sail

 6 am: Out Reefs & set Lower Steering Sail. Saw two Cape Hens. A small species of Whale – Rock Weed and Oceanic Birds. —

 8 am: Strong Breezes & fair Weather. Served hot breakfast as usual. Sweet Wort at 10 OClock. Krout Bore Cole in the Pease for Dinner. —

10 am: Washed and Cleaned Ship & dried with Fires

12 noon: Ditto Weather. The Assistant in Company but am obliged to shorten Sail for her and not carry Steering Sails.—
