Providence Logbook Jan 21, 1792

Remarks Saturday 21st January 1792 Towards Van [Diemans Land]

 1 pm: Fresh Gale and Cloudy Weather

 4 pm: A few Albetrosses

 6 pm: Gale increasing – Got down Top Gallant Yards & close Reefed the Top Sails and handed the Main Sail —

 9 pm: Fires all Night to Air Ship. Carried a stern light.

11 pm: Strong Gales with heavy Squalls of Wind and Rain and a sudden Shift of Wind – Hauled the Fore Sail up and handed the main Top Sail.

 5 am: Fresh Gale and Fair Weather

 6 am: Set the Fore Sail and Main Top Sail, many flocks of small Blue petterals about us.

 8 am: Out 4th. Reefs and set the Main Sail –

 9 am: Hung up all Wet Cloaths – Cleaned and dried Ship with Fires – Served Sour Krout and Sweet Wort.— as usual —

12 noon: Very Fresh Gale and Fair Weather, many Birds about of the Small Petteral Tribe.—
   Assistant in Company
