Remarks Wednesday 28th December 1791 [Towards Van] Diemans Land

 1 pm: Fresh Gale – Shortned Sail, hove to and sounded with 185 fathoms of line out, but got no ground.—

 4 pm: Out 2nd Reefs

 8 pm: Much Swell from the SW

10 pm: A very confused Sea – Hove too and tryed Soundings with 120 fathoms line but got no Ground —

 2 am: Light Winds and very confused Sea —

 4 am: Saw a Ship ESE

 8 am: Set Fore Top Mast and Lower Studding Sails

 9 am: Cleaned below – Some Albetrosses and Sheerwaters

10 am: Unbent the Cables

12 noon: Fresh Breezes and fair Weather a great Swell from the Westward – Assistant in Company and a Strange Ship NE 3 Leagues —
