 3 am: Sounded every quarter of an hour, from 70 to 80 fathom no ground

 4 am: At Day light saw 6 Sail to the Northward and a brig standing to the South – set Top Gallant Sails – At 6 saw a strange Sail ahead standing to the Southward –

 6 am: at 6..30 fired 4 guns to bring to a schooner & made the Assistants Signal to chase – Shortened Sail – Served thick gruel for breakfast – at 7..30 made the Signal to call in all cruizers – at 8 Squally in Top Gallant Sails – at 9..30 spoke the Assistant The Chase proved to be an american schooner laden with flower bound to the Mississippi – Exercised great guns and small Arms – Served Krout as usual – At Noon fresh breezes & fair weather with haze – Ships in Company as day before, & two Brigs in sight to the Northward
