H M Ship Providence from Matavai Bay Otaheite towards Timor 1792

Remarks Wednesday August 22d

 1 pm: Moderate breeze and pleasant weather

 3 pm: Sailmaker on the Mizen Top Sail

 4 pm: Worked the Pumps

 7 pm: In steering Sails Top Gallant Sails and 1 & 2 Reefs

 8 pm: Moderate breeze and clear weather

11 pm: Cloudy

12 mid: Ditto Weather – Under an easy Sail all night the Assistant leading with a light

 4 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy weather

 6 am: Out all Reefs and made all Sail

 7 am: Served portable Soup gruel for dk

 8 am: Ditto Weather cleaned below – People employed making Points, and pointing the Mizen Top Sail

11 am: Saw Men of War birds brown and white Boobies Tropic birds and great numbers of flying fish – At Noon fresh breeze and fair weather
Assistant in Company
Served Krout and Portable Soup in the Pease for Dinner
   Latitude Observed 13°..34′ South
The Assistant having advantage of us in sailing, which she has kept since leaving Otaheite
