[H M S Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good Hope] towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land in 1792

Wednesday January 4th

 1 pm: Moderate breeze and pleasant weather

 2 pm: Out 1st Reefs Topsails

 4 pm: Gunners employed working up Wads

 5 pm: Saw Albatrosses and Sheerwaters

 7 pm: Fine clear weather

 2 am: Fresh Breeze and cloudy – Shortened Sail for the Assistant

 3 am: A Heavy dew falling

 6 am: Strong breeze – In Top Gallant Sails and Fore Top Mast Studding Sail

 8 am: Passed by a [?] Spar about 10 feet long

10 am: Moderate and Cloudy set the Top Gallant Sails

11 am: Hazy – Exercised the Boats Crews

12 noon: Moderate with small rain
   'Latitude Observed – No Observation
