Log &c. of H M S Providence from Port Praya in the Island [of St. Iago towards the Cape of Good Hope in 1791]

Thursday October 27th

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and dark cloudy weather

 3 pm: Drizzling rain

 4 pm: Fair

 5 pm: Dark cloudy weather with small [shallow?] rain – Saw Albatrosses Pintada Birds and sheerwaters of different kinds

 8 pm: Squally with Rain in Top Gallant Sails and 2d Reefs Main Topsail

12 mid: Fresh Gales and cloudy

 2 am: In 2d Reef of the Fore Topsail

 3 am: Flying clouds and squally at times

 4 am: Cold air

 8 am: Cleaned below – out 2d Reef of the Fore Topsail

10 am: Saw several Pintada Birds, Albatrosses and small Sheerwaters

12 noon: Fresh Gale and fine weather
   Latitude Observed 28°..11′ South
