Log Book &c. of H M S Providence from Teneriffe [towards the Cape of Good Hope – 1791]

Remarks Saturday September 3d

 1 pm: A Moderate Breeze and fair

 3 pm: Fresh Breezes and Hazy. hauled down the Studding Sails

 5 pm: Several Flying fish about

 7 pm: Wetted the Spar Deck fore and aft

 8 pm: Rigged on the Studding sail booms and Handed the Main sail

10 pm: A Heavy dew

12 mid: Hazy – AM

 8 am: Cleaned dry below – Employed on deck fresh stowing some of the booms. Sailmakers about the Awning

11 am: Albacores about the Ship and a great Number of flying fish – a few Sheerwaters

12 noon: At Noon the Assistant in Company – Under three Topsails and Foresail
   Latitude Observed 24..37 North
