Moored in Table Bay Cape of Good Hope

Tuesday 20  Fresh Gales & Squally put a fresh platt on the Small bower Cable & pointed yards to the wind, Employed as before at 5 Struck Topmasts per Signal, His Majestys Brig Waakamheid parted her Cables & went to Sea AM Moderate & fine at 7 Swayed up Topmasts lower yards & Top Gallant masts Received Water per Cutter Employed setting up the Topmast & Top Gallant Rigging & lashing the Casks on Deck At Noon the Providence made the Signal for Sailing

Shifting our Berth in Table Bay Cape of Good Hope

Wednesday 21  First part Moderate & clear Employed Occasionally Middle Light Variable winds Latter Moderate & clear AM at 5 Unmoored & hove into ⅓ of a Cable on the Small bower Employed Occasionally At Noon weighed to run farther out Sailed a French Ship

At Single Anchor in Table Bay Cape of Good Hope

Thursday 22  First part Moderate & Clear PM at 1 Came too with the small Bower in 6½ Fathoms water the Lyons rump bearing WbN & the middle of Robin Island SbW Sailed a French Brig Employed fixing brails to a Trysail Several Ships in the Offing at 4 the Waakamheid Captain Hunter coming in with a Blue Ensign at her Main Top Gallant mast head Union downwards The Providence made the Signal for Assistance & Fired minute Guns the Pitt Repeated Ditto at 7 The Brig was warped in & Anchored in the Bay Arrived a Dutch an American Ship At Noon Light Variable winds & fine Weather

Friday 23  Light winds & fine Weather PM Arrived here HM Sloop Swan at 4 weighed & came to sail in Company with the Providence The Providence Saluted which was Returned by the Fort & we Cheered His Majestys Brig Waakamheid which She Returned unbent the Cables & Stowed the Anchors at 7 the westermost point of Robin Island SbE about 3 Leagues got an Anchor from each side out of the Fore Chains Inboard AM Fresh Gales & clear Saw a strange Sail in the SE standing to the SW Employed securing & lashing the Anchors on deck Made & Shortened Sail Occasionally At Noon Fresh breezes & fine Weather Providence NbE a Cable
