Flinders's Providence Logbook Aug 12, 1792

Remarks Sunday August 12th 1792 Providence

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and dark cloudy Weather Set Studding sails

 2 pm: People washing and mending their Clothes

 4 pm: The high Mountain NE about 6 Leagues the only land in sight

 6 pm: The Assistants Signal to come withing Hail – spoke her – All well – Before Dark In Studding sails Top Gallant sails and 2nd reefs

 8 pm: Fresh Breezes – Saw the Appearance of Land right ahead Made the Signal to haul the Wind upon the Starboard Tack and came to accordingly

10 pm: Squally with rain and thick Weather

12 mid: Ditto Weather Wore Ship per Signal

 1 am: Cloudy with rain at Times the whole Watch

 4 am: Wore Ship per Signal

 5 am: Drizling rain

 6 am: ¼ past 6 Bore away – No land to be seen from the Mast head – Out all reefs & set Studding sails

 7 am: Cloudy Weather Sun seen at Intervals

 8 am: Ditto Weather Cleaned below and aired with Stoves in the Cockpits

 9 am: Ships Company mustered in Divisions, seen clean and Divine Service performed by the Captain

11 am: At 11 A smart shower disturbed the Congregation

12 noon: At Noon Light Breezes and cloudy Weather
