Bond's Providence Logbook Jan 14, 1793

Remarks &c 14th January 1793

 1 pm: Fresh gales and fair with haze. Set Top Gallant Sails. Saw flying-fish.

 6 pm: Bent the new Fore Top Gallant Sail – worked the Pumps

 8 pm: Cloudy weather

12 mid: Steady fresh gales – In Top Gallant Sails. Assistant astern.

 3 am: At 3 set Top Gallant Sails

 4 am: Strong gales and cloudy; in Top Gallant Sails.

 5 am: Squally

 6 am: Set Top Gallant Sails. Thick hazy weather – saw flying-fish and found 3 in the fore chains. Served the usual breakfast. Cleaned below & aired with fires. Unbent and repaired the Main Top Sail and set steering sails foreward. Bent the new Main Top Gallant sail. Served the weekly allowance of Vinegar. Borecole Soup for Dinner – Exercised Marines at Small Arms and fired. Made the Assistants Signal to make more sail – answered. At 11 set double reefed Main Top Sail.

12 noon: Fresh gales and thick hazy weather the sun out at times.
