1 pm: Light airs and calm – a swell from the NW.

 3 pm: Light breezes – Saw served Whales – Sailmakers repairing the old thread bare Sails. Worked the Pumps as usual

 8 pm: Fair weather Tacked Ship

12 mid: Moderate breezes and fair weather

 2 am: Fresh breezes, in Top Gallant Sails.

 3 am: In 2nd reef Fore & Main, and 1st reef Mizen Top Sail

 4 am: Squally – saw Whales blow, Mother Carey's Chickens, some Albatrosses and Sheerwaters. Found both the Main and Larboard Fore Top Sail Sheets gone in the [?] – clenched the ends and set ye sails again – Saw Pintada birds; and caught one entangled in a line during the night.

 8 am: In 3rd reef Fore & Main, and 2ndf of the Mizen Top Sail – Down Top Gallant yards and struck ye Fore Top Gallant Mast

 9 am: Fresh gales and cloudy with a head sea; the ship pitching much – The usual Breakfast. Cleaned swept and aired with Fires. Shipped a small sea which wetted some of the Plants, but apprehend no danger therefrom. Opened a Cask of Beef – Served Krout; and broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer
