Providence Logbook Oct 12, 1792

Remarks Friday 12th October 1792

 1 pm: Light Breezes and fair Weather. Swell from the SW.

 4 pm: Extremes of Island Sava S40°E to S25°E Eastermost part about 6 or 7 Leagues and Southermost 4 or 5 Leagues. The Island to the West of it called Benjoar S6°E to S29°E 3 or 4 Leagues.

 6 pm: At Sun Set Sava EbS½S, 8 or 9 Leagues Benjoar S50°E to S62°E about 6 leagues.

 8 pm: In 1st. Reefs and Steered to the Southward to clear new Island discovered by Captain Cook.

10 pm: Heavy Dew and fine Night Gunners in the Magazine filling Powder.

 5 am: Out Reefs and set all Sails

 8 am: Light Airs inclinable to Calm. Cleaned Ship and Aired with Fires. Saw the branch of a Tree, a Booby, some flying Fish. Served Fresh Beef to both Ships Companies.

10 am: Punished George Thompson with 12 lashes for insolence and neglect of duty. Read the Articles of War.

12 noon: Ditto Weather. Assistant in Company.
