Rem^s Wednesd^y 27 May 1789 1 [pm] Fine W^r. 3 [pm] Many Noddies, Boobies & Tropic Gulls 6 [pm] Caught a Booby by hand, found many several flying Fish & Squids in his maw. 6 [am] Fine W^r. Many Boobies Nod dies & Flying Fish— Caught a Booby. Providence seems to supply us w^h. food we are now in great want and distress. – Killed the Bird for dinner & w^th. the other gave us great refreshment – [?] & every offal eat also with great voraciousness. – These Birds are of a light brown colour & flying close in upon us, was caught by hand Sun powerfull People faint Lat Obs^d. 13°:26′ S Sea from ESE Began upon 2^d Breaker of Water
