Mondy. 18 May 1789 1 [pm] Light winds - Gloomy Wr. & heavy Rain. – Very wet & Cold Boobies. & a kind of Gull abt. 6 [pm] Fresh Gales dark Wr. & squally great Sea from SE breaking over us - Very wet & Cold. Bread & Water for Supr. 9 [pm] Steering by the Sea not able to see the Comp[a]ss – 11 [pm] Heavy Rain. Nothing to Shelter us very wet & Cold & pain in our Bones. 8 [am] Ceased Raining - Dark Cloudy wth. much Sea. began to wring our wet cloaths. — 12 [noon] Squally wth. Rain Bread & water for dinner — Some Birds, Boobies & Noddies No Obsn.
