you Observe the Ship takes proper means to get Clear of it. 9th: No boat is ever to go from the Ship without a – grapnell; a Musquet; a Cutlass and a Proper Quantity of Ammunition for Each Man, with water and Provisions for that Day. 10th: No more that one man is to Quit the boat at a time in any place where there may be Indians, and if any are discover'd, no Man is to Quit the Boat 11th: The Officer who Commands the boat is to make him self acquainted with the General soundings of the Place he is examining, and not to lose time in sounding too minutely, but to proceed back to the ship with all dispatch, that being Sufficient for her General Conduct, and if any more is required, a Boat will be kept a kind. 12th: A Jack at the Main top Gallant Mast head is a Signal for the boats away to report on board, and will be made with, or without, Guns, as Circumstances may make it Necessary.
